(January 2, 1887, Berezhany – October 7, 1970, Lviv)

Professor of Lviv University, full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society.
Studied in Prague, Vienna, Lviv, Berlin. At the University of Vienna, he received a doctorate in philosophy (supervisor Franz Mertens).
Worked in secondary schools and gymnasiums, at the university of Kamianets-Podilskyi, the Underground Ukrainian University in Lviv, and the Odesa Institute, where he taught mathematics in Ukrainian. After a long imprisonment on a case fabricated by the Soviet authorities and exile, he was finally rehabilitated and was given the opportunity to work at Lviv University.
Scientific interests: algebra, number theory. Author of articles, textbooks, the first Ukrainian-language monograph. Contributed to Ukrainian mathematical terminology and Ukrainian mathematical bibliography.
