Rohachenko Valentyn

(June 30, 1915 Khreshchenske in Katerynoslav Governorate – May 7, 1978, Lviv)
He studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Rostov University, then completed postgraduate studies at Moscow State University. He served in the Soviet Army during World War II.
From 1946 he worked at Lviv University, where in 1955 he defended his doctoral dissertation on geometry in the Lobachevsky plane. He served as dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics and of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and from 1963 to 1976 as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Lviv University.
Scientific interests: geometry, astronomy, and the history of mathematics, particularly the history of the Lwów School of Mathematics of the 1920s–1930s.
He was married to Tatyana Mandrykina (1921-1982), who worked as a research associate at the Astronomical Observatory of Lviv University.
He died on 7 May 1978 in Lviv.
