Professor, specialist in linear algebra and ring theory. Founder of a new direction in linear algebra related to the factorization of matrix polynomials.
In 1943–1944, studied at the Lviv Medical Institute, in 1950 graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Ivan Franko State University of Lviv. In 1957, defended his candidate-degree thesis (scientific supervisor – Prof. Ya. B. Lopatynskyi), and in 1985, doctoral dissertation.
After graduating from the university, worked as an assistant, and then as an associate professor at the Department of Higher Mathematics of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. In 1970 he was invited to work at the Physico-Mechanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR, where he organized and headed the Department of Algebra, which continued to function as part of the newly established Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR since 1978. From 1987 he also worked as a professor at the Department of Algebra and Topology of Ivan Franko State University of Lviv.
Scientific interests: ring theory, linear and differential algebra.
