Skorobohatko Vitalii

(July 18, 1927, Darnytsia – July 5, 1996, Lviv)
Founder of the Lviv scientific school on the theory of branched continued fractions and their applications. Studied at the universities in Moscow and Lviv. Student of Prof. Ya. B. Lopatynskyi. Assistant, associate professor at Ivan Franko Lviv State University. From 1963, he worked in institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and from 1969, he headed the department of the theory of differential equations and the theory of functions at Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine.
In 1987, a periodic international conference “New approaches to solving differential equations” was initiated in Drohobych, which now bears his name.
Scientific interests: theory of differential equations, constructive theory of functions, computational mathematics, theoretical and mathematical physics.
